Can you write us an e-book?

What a question! Not one I was expecting but probably one of my favourite writing projects ever.

I’ve been blogging for the entrepreneurial guys over at Yotspot (online superyacht crew jobs board) for a few years, hunting down movers and shakers in the superyacht and maritime industry, to interview and write about for their community news feed. Relaying the latest news and stories superyacht and motor yacht crew - scattered all over the globe - want to read. Sharing experiences, events and news updates that impact their industry.

But with a large proportion of their readership “green” or newbies to the superyacht sector, they wanted to create a ‘handbook’ for new recruits, as an additional resource to their Platinum membership. From the definition of a Superyacht, how a Superyacht splits down by department, job descriptions, how to find work, building an online recruitment profile, salary expectation, training, qualifications, career progression and the pitfalls … even what to pack when you go!

There are similar manuals already in publication, but Yotspot wanted theirs to be informative, detailed, but graphically stimulating, split into manageable, bite-size chunks. A handbook that could be easily referred to, skimmed, accessible in downloadable format but visually stimulating enough to keep!

Enter stage right … graphic designer Graham Bell of New Forest based Absolute Graphics. Combining my copywriting with his keen creative eye (s) we’ve created a downloadable E-Book that’s quite simply … stunning!

The handbook’s stylish layout is presented in a digestible format, signposted into clear sections. Each chapter punctuated with personal stories (“Profiles”) showcasing superyacht crew experiences and helpful tips from maritime industry experts, representing recruitment, women in engineering, service, cuisine, crew management software and ongoing superyacht crew support.

This was such a lovely job to work on and with access to a bit (lot!) of creative genius, we have a handbook to be proud of.

REACTION: The client was so pleased with the end result, they considered retailing on Amazon as well as through their own website.
